What makes people successful at achieving their goals? Motivation plays a huge part, which is why many of us turn to the experts when we need a little help figuring out a plan, if we’re feeling stuck, or if we just need a little push in the right direction to keep us going.

Regardless of where you’re at or what you want to achieve in your life, we’ve put together a diverse list of self-improvement experts to follow on social media – Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (depending on what works for you!). Our list includes experts in personal growth, business development, health, lifestyle and fitness – so we cover all the bases.

Marie Forleo

She’s a trailblazer for helping people become entrepreneurs, especially women. Every week, she releases a motivational video with interviews, advice, and practical tips on starting and growing a business, including overcoming the mental and emotional hurdles many women face. Her tweets are a daily dose of positivity, inspiration, and motivation for building a career and life you love.

Mastin Kipp

Mastin tweets out encouraging tips for people to step into their own power to improve their lives. Whether it’s gathering the motivation to finish that book, take a leap into a new career, or helping those in need, he encourages people to live lives of purpose with daily motivational advice.

Cheryl Strayed/ Steve Almond – Dear Sugars

Originally a column in The Rumpus, Cheryl Strayed’s essays offering heartfelt advice for the lost, broken and lonely have now grown into a weekly podcast. Now, she and Steve Almond give their own thoughtful advice on love and relationships in their weekly podcast Dear Sugars, with inspirational tweets to accompany.

Tony Robbins

Need we say more? This self-improvement guru has made a name for himself through motivational speaking, and offers great and practical business and personal growth advice over Twitter. And it’s free! We suggest you take advantage of his expertise and guidance and start following him today.

Brene Brown

Being vulnerable is something we aren’t inclined to do, but Brene Brown makes a compelling case for it in her writing and through heartfelt advice on her Facebook page. She urges us to embrace what makes us weak or fearful (in our own eyes) instead of pushing it away, because it’s the way we connect to each other. Her Facebook posts are filled with frank advice and her own personal stories.

Elizabeth Gilbert

The author of Eat, Pray Love is still inspiring many through her beautiful posts on Facebook, urging us to live more creative lives. She gently nudges us out of our own heads to think on a grander scale, because what each of us offers is unique and necessary in the world. I go to her page for pick-me-ups all the time. It’s like talking to a wise friend.

Marianne Williamson

The spiritual force that is Marianne Williamson gives it to you straight (and with love). She reminds us that we are a powerful force in our own lives, and gives us advice and practical steps for how to navigate challenging issues, from the personal to the political. If you’re feeling unmotivated, her Facebook posts and links will inspire you to action.

Kimberly Snyder

The nutritionist who created the Glowing Green Smoothie is one of my personal favorites. She dealt with several physical issues before developing her vegan-based eating plan and encourages others to do the same. Her Facebook page is filled with delicious and incredibly nutritious recipes, as well as stories from people who have found success through healthier eating. If you ever need an immunity boost or want to kick-start a healthy diet, this Facebook page is a must.

Jessamyn Stanley

I can’t say enough good things about how this yoga instructor and author has brought fitness and healthy movement to the mainstream. Yoga has intimidated many with larger bodies as well as people of color, and Jessamyn welcomes everyone with accessible poses and motivational advice through her beautiful Instagram account. If you’ve shied away from fitness, she’ll get you moving.

Jaime Derringer

If you spend hours watching HGTV or browsing design websites, you’ve probably heard of Design Milk and Jaime Derringer. Her personal and her Design Milk Instagram accounts are not only filled with beautiful, inspiring design ideas, but are curated like fine art exhibits. She holds no particular style as “the one to follow,” which is why if you want to inject a little eclectic and creative inspiration into your life and home, follow her.

Danielle Moss

The founder of website The EveryGirl was determined to provide practical career and lifestyle advice for twenty-somethings venturing out on their own – a niche she felt wasn’t being addressed. Danielle’s Instagram covers everything from fashion to design to inspirational quotes to carry you through the day. Follow her if you want to take your lifestyle to the next level.

Tim Ferriss

If you want an inside peak at some of today’s top influencers and what they do to become successful, check out the Instagram (and podcast) of Tim Ferriss, who hosts the #1 business podcast on iTunes. He shares his travels, behind-the-scenes photos and quotes of some of the amazing guests he’s interviewed, including Marc Andreessen, Peter Thiel and Maria Popova.
